For BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Immigrant Creatives
Path Unbound is a creative community built by those who identify as “minorities” in different ways. We don’t want to just educate – we want to lend our support to our community vigorously. That’s why we are offering a rolling scholarship grant for students who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and immigrants (you have moved permanently from one country to another). We want to do our part in bringing change in a real and tangible way.
In order to ensure the scholarship grant benefits under represented minority groups that we strive to support, we have outlined the following applicant eligibility. Please read through them carefully before submitting your applications. We strongly encourage anyone who meets the eligibility requirements to submit their applications, even if you don’t think you will get it – because we want you to give yourself a chance.
How To Apply
Fill Out The Application Form
Tell us about your background and why you would like to be considered for this grant. Please be as specific as possible. We give priority to applicants who show genuine interest and write in detail about their stories.
The application form will take about 20-30 minutes to fill out. So sit back, brew your favorite beverage and show us your passion.
Film A Video of Yourself Answering One of Our Prompts
We love like to hear your perspectives. We have a few prompts to help you speak more easily on camera. Don’t be shy – being your true self is the most beautiful.
You will be sent the video prompts via email after you submitted the application form. You have 2 weeks to create the video and upload it to a file sharing service.
We require that you give us full permission to use your video to build our community. We will never sell any of your information.
That's It! Plus a few more if you get selected.
That’s the end of the application process. We don’t want you to spend a lot of time begging for recommendation letters like many other scholarships and grants programs do. We simply want to hear directly from you.
If you become one of the 3 monthly winners, we will reach out to you regarding next steps via email.
In addition to actively engage in their regular learning activities, monthly Hope Grant winners will participate in various activities, such as sharing their experiences with our wider community during virtual speaker series; joining our podcast recording sessions as guests and panelists; and providing honest testimonials after graduating from the program. We want to provide grant winners as many opportunities to network and engage as much as we encourage them to give back to the community.
1 Full Tuition Award / month
2 Half Tuition Awards /month
We will select 3 winners every month: 1 full tuition winner and 2 half-tuition winners. We administer this grant so often because we want to give as many students opportunities as possible. We also want to encourage more people from BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities consider creative careers a real possibility. Traditionally, members of these communities face many obstacles financially and culturally to pursue a creative path. We want to change this. We want to be the change.
If you are already studying in the School of Design program, you will be issued a refund in the amount of the grant. Note: short course students are not eligible for the grant at this moment.
We want to hear your real story. Our application form is long – so anyone who took the time to really tell us their stories will stand out. We don’t need any ground-breaking achievements or discoveries. We are more curious about what you have done previously in life that motivated to pursue a creative path. We want to know what obstacles you have had to overcome and what you did to make sure you can succeed despite those circumstances.
Originality and Content Quality of Video
We want you to take a moment to think about what you are going to say on video, but don’t take too long because you only have 2 weeks after submitting your initial application. Trust your gut and show us your creativity! You don’t need to be a video production whiz – just a simple cellphone homemade video with adequate lighting and audible audio is enough.
Demonstrated Financial Need
We would like to help folks who have demonstrated financial need. We understand an education is a big investment for anyone, especially those who come from less than fortunate circumstances. We encourage you to tell us why you think you have the financial need and how you would benefit from this grant. We would love to hear about your study plan and how you plan to use your education to achieve your goals.
Tell Us Your Story
We would like to hear your story. Once you submit this application form, you will be sent the video creation prompt via email.
